Greens of Albania" was found on 1 September 2001 as a new political party by the initiative of a group of young intellectuals coming from different fields who put together different new ecological ideas.
"The Greens" were born as an indispensable political movement, that the time called in scene, to give the alarm about the ecological crisis that exist in Albania.
"The Greens" were born to undertake a political action in order to awake people's conscience to prevent the deepening of this ecological crisis. This was one of the reasons why "The Greens" from the first steps were followed by students, young people, environmental associations, intellectuals etc.

I. The alternatives of political party

The alternatives the Albanian Greens offered through its program consist not only in identifying problems derived from the damages to the environment, such as forest damages, the decrease of green surfaces or the lack of control on goods' standards. They also consist in building contemporary and effective programs that aim to raise the awareness of the citizens. These new alternatives aim to implement new ecological, eco economic, eco development forms and methods for organic agriculture.
"Greens" have a political platform through which they communicate with the electorate to ask their support.

Green alternatives are shown in the political program. Those are the solutions to many problems we have nowadays in our society, especially social and environmental ones. All these problems and some others need an immediate solution that the Greens give through the political platform.
Greens publish one three monthly newsletter as well, which highlights green political activities. Greens distribute very often leaflets, posters calling the citizens to support their political movement and alternatives. They face difficulties to transmit the activities in the media (radio television).
This happens because the media is not open and it follows special politics. The potential social base of "The Greens" includes generally young intellectuals, students etc. (who are one of the most supportive groups of the Green party)

II. The Greens' political strategy

The Greens' priority is and will remain the young generation. Green policy gives youth the force and faith for the future. For them it's scandalous if the policy of a country hasn't anything to propose to the youth. The Greens think that the solidarity between generations will be a factor of success for the elimination of social problems amongst youth. The support greens give and receive from the youth is the basis of this new political movement. These are the reasons that the greens have as a strategy to gain the support of the young generation because only this would provide them with a real political future.
The realization of a green political platform asks electoral support.

This is an important step considering that it's the first time greens take part in elections.
This will make greens an important political factor. This is the reason that their objectives are clear ones, to gain as best as they can electoral votes.

In the local elections of October 2003, the Albanian Greens won two local councilors in Tirana. This was a success because it was the first time they participated at the local election. So they are now part of local decision making process.

On July 3rd 2005 Albanian people voted for the new parliament deputies.

Regarding 2007, it was successful for Albanian greens. This was the year of local elections and the greens participated as a consolidated and organized party. Number of zones where we candidate was 10 times more than in former elections, representing greens in all 12 districts of Albania. Greens won 10 local councilors, which mean 5 times more than in former elections.

In May 2008, for the fist ime in Albania,Green Party unify the environmental factor represented by environmental associations, ecological clubs, eco-development privat institutions, as well as several environmental networks representatives, all together aiming at "For a Green Albania" alliance. For this reason, we would like to bring this join as a guarantor for change. This alliance of the Greens aim to promote a allinclusive movement for environment protection, natural resources and environmental values through a sustainable development. This Alliance thinks we should have an economic model nearer the eco-development, because this of nowdays is the main responsible for high polluted levels.This will maintain an equiliber through consummstory needs and environmental consideration. Through our main objectives related with environment, should be the implementation of a new policy aiming at bring to an end the environmental polllution and decrease of CO2 in ambiance. There is not sustainable development in a system which does not use renovating energies, ecological transportation and which does not have as priority the protection of natural resources, green spaces widening, stimulation of safe products and health protection through adapting safe social policies.

 In the name of this policy, the Greens and civil environmental factor create the alliance "For a Green Albania, as a strong green voice in politic spectrum.
