The Ecological Party "Green Alliance" of the Republic of Moldova was founded in 1992 and is the second political party recognised officially.
The Party's seeds had been launched at the beginning of 1980-s, when a green movement appeared uniting at first journalists, writers and peoples of art and science. Afterwards, they formed a strong informal organisation of the Moldovan greens apposed to the Soviet regime of totalitarism.
In the first democratic Parliament elected in 1990, the greens had 2 representatives. In the parliaments of the second and third legislations the Ecological Party the "Green Alliance" disposed of one member that chaired the commission for environment. At the same time in the Democratic Governments of 1990-1994; 1998-2000 a representative of the Party headed the Central Environment Authority.
With the direct contribution of the Ecological Party the "Green Alliance", there in the Republic of Moldova, has been elaborated and adopted a new and up-to-date environment legislation. The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has ratified 18 International Environmental Conventions. As an immediate goal, the Party strongly pronounces itself for a democratic solution of the Transnistrian conflict and withdrawal of the 14-th Army of Russian Federation and of its military arsenal at Cobasna, that constitutes a permanent menace to peace and human life in the region.
Through its consequently promoted policy, the Ecological Party the "Green Alliance" asserts as its primordial scope the creation of appropriate conditions for a national development assuring the implementation of necessary clauses for an adherence to the European Union in common with the states of the South-west Balkans.
The Party has have elected representatives in the administrative bodies at local and district levels.
At the Parliamentary elections from the 2005 year, the Ecological Party the "Green Alliance" has supported the Moldovan Democratic Bloc, the main force of the apposition, that englobed almost 30% of the voters.
At the anticipated ballot for the General Mayoralty of the Chisinau city Council the Ecological Party had proposed its own candidate who accumulated around 4% of total voters.
The Ecological Party the "Green Alliance" is opting for an emergently harmonisation of the national legislation with that of European Union, for liquidation of the gaps and adjustment of the laws to EU's directives and for the strict observance of every and each obligations resulting from International Conventions and Treaties.

The Ecologist Party the "Green Alliance" considers it to be unfounded and damaging the policy of the communist party aimed at divisation of the economic activities and measures of protection of environmental ambiance.
At the last 3rd Congress of the Moldovan Ecological Party the "Green Alliance", convoked in December 2005, a new componence of the Administrative bodies of the Party, the National Council (31 persons) and the Permanent Executive Bureau (13 persons) were formed.
